Why replace the Oticon Cerumen Filter of a hearing aid?

It is important to replace the filter of your hearing aid in a timely manner. This guarantees a longer lifespan for your device. With the Oticon Prowax cerumen filters you prevent damage caused by excess earwax. If the filters are not replaced in time, they will eventually become clogged. Below you can read how to easily replace the Oticon Cerumen filter.

Replace the Oticon Prowax cerumen filter in 6 steps

We are happy to help you replace the ProWax filter. This is how it happened with this step by step explanation:

  1. Grasp the hearing aid by the speaker.
  2. Pull off the dome with your thumb and index finger. This will make the filter visible.
  3. Take a black stick from the ProWax miniFit packaging.
  4. Push the side with the black end into the filter of the speaker. Then pull it out again. The old filter has now been removed.
  5. Then push the white side of the stick into the speaker and then pull it out again. This will automatically place the new filter in the speaker.
  6. Place the dome back and the device is ready for use again!

How often should I replace the hearing aid filter?

The extent to which a filter needs to be replaced depends on the amount of earwax that a person produces. Too much earwax ultimately results in blockage. As a result, the hearing aid will no longer function optimally. For some people this means that filters need to be replaced weekly, while others only need to do this monthly or annually.

When the hearing aid no longer works properly or even stops working at all, there are often two reasons. For example, the batteries may be dead (most common) or the filters may be clogged. If the batteries of your hearing aid are still good but you are still experiencing problems, it is advisable to replace the filter of your hearing aid.
