Why replace a Widex cerustop filter on a hearing aid?

Replacing the filter of a hearing aid on time is very important. This guarantees a longer lifespan for the Widex hearing aids . By replacing the Widex Cerustop filters in a timely manner you prevent damage caused by excess earwax (cerumen). If these filters are not replaced in time, they will eventually become clogged. This can damage your hearing aid or even cause it to stop working altogether.

Replacing Widex Cerustop filters in 6 steps

We are happy to help you replace the Widex Cerustop filters. This is how it happened with this short step-by-step plan:

  1. Grasp the hearing aid by the speaker.
  2. Pull off the dome with your thumb and index finger.
  3. Take a black stick from the package with Cerustop filters.
  4. Push the side with the black end into the filter of the speaker. Then you pull it out again. Now the old filter has been removed.
  5. Then push the white side of the stick into the speaker and then pull it out again. This will automatically place the new filter in the speaker.
  6. Place the dome back and the device is ready for use again!

How often should I replace a hearing aid filter?

The period in which a hearing aid filter needs to be replaced depends on the amount of earwax a person has. Too much earwax can ultimately cause blockage. As a result, the hearing aid will no longer work optimally or may even stop working altogether. For some people this means that filters need to be replaced daily or weekly, while others only need to do this monthly or annually.

When the hearing aid no longer works optimally or even stops working at all, there are often two reasons. For example, the batteries may be empty (most common) or the filters may be clogged. If the batteries are still good but you are still experiencing problems, it is advisable to replace the filter of your hearing aid.
